The NS (Name Server) records of a domain reveal which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. In simple terms, the zone is the collection of all records for the domain, so when you open a URL inside a browser, your laptop or computer asks the DNS servers world-wide where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain name must be retrieved. In this way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain address is so that the latter is mapped to an IP and the website content is required from the correct location, a mail relay server finds out which server deals with the e-mails for the domain (MX record) so a message can be sent to the needed mailbox, and so on. Any change of these sub-records is performed through the company whose name servers are used, so you're able to keep the web hosting and change only your email provider for example. Every single domain has at least two NS records - primary and secondary, that start with a prefix such as NS or DNS.
NS Records in Cloud Hosting
In case you register a domain name inside a cloud hosting account from our company, you are going to be able to control its name servers easily. This is done through the Registered Domains section of the in-house built Hepsia hosting CP and with only a few clicks you are going to be able to update the NS records of one or even several domains at once, which can save you a lot of time and efforts when you have a large number of domain addresses you want to point to a different provider. You can enter multiple name servers depending on how many the other company provides you with. In addition we permit you to create private name servers for every single domain registered through our company and in contrast to many other providers we don't charge anything extra for this service. The new NS records can be used to redirect any other domain address to the hosting platform of the provider whose IP addresses you have used during the process, so each time you use our IPs in particular, all domain addresses included in the account on our end can use these name servers.
NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
The name servers for each domain name that's registered through our company may be changed with no more than a few clicks from the innovative, albeit easy-to-use Hepsia CP that comes with all semi-dedicated server plans. It's just as effortless to view the current NS records for a specific domain and to determine if they're the ones that are needed for the domain name to be directed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to permit you to handle any domain address with ease even if you have never dealt with such matters before. If you wish, you may even register private name servers and and use them not only for the domain name under which they are set up, but also for any other domain name that you might want to host within the very same account. This option is very beneficial if you have clients of your own and you would like their websites to use your own name servers rather than our default ones. The service is totally free.
